GBR Challenge I was invited to join the GBR Challenge sailing team in mid 2002 immediately after leaving university. My sailing role was as a strategist, though I filled in as a trimmer when needed, and as a sparing partner for skipper Ian Walker. Over time my technical responsibility grew and after we were eliminated I moved more towards the design side working on the observation of the other teams. With my degree in naval architecture I established myself as one of the first offered a continuing contract with GBR when we returned to the UK. In 2004 - 2005 I represented GBR Challenge at various international match racing events and was one of the principle members of both the design and sailing teams.
