KER 40 Keronimo
Keronimo was the first of a new one design IRC race boat designed by Jason Ker. Simon was the tactician and performance director for the programme. The Ker 40 bust on the offshore scene winning various big races including the Famous New York Bowl Trophy in Cowes week and narrowly missing out on being the RORC boat of the year. The culmination of the season was the Rolex Fastnet race where the boat won IRC 1A.
World Match Racing Tour - Yanmar Racing
After competing as part of Team GAC Pindar for the last 5 years and winning the World Tour twice, Simon is no stranger to the World Match Racing Tour. When the opportunity to sail with Americas Cup and match racing legend Peter Gilmour presented itself, he had no option but to say yes. This year the team came very close to getting on the podium but after a crunch match during the Finals in Malaysia slipped from second to 5th overall.
Jethou JV 60
Simon was asked to sail the end of season events on the Mini Maxi, Jethou. This fast Judel Vrolijk design is one the best campaigned boats in the World. Simon was asked to sail on the mainsheet. This was a great experience and allowed him to learn more about how to setup a rig and tune a boat of this type-form as well as take the opportunity to sail with Brad Butterworth, the legendary tactician.
Women's Olympic Match Racing Team
I have been working with the British Women's Match Racing Team in the run in to London 2012 Olympic Games. I have provided them with specialised coaching working on the fine detail of their communication and decision-making around the course and the intricacy of their strategic time and distance placement in the pre-start.
